Rooted in American tattooing, the Arts and Crafts Movement, Art Deco, and the wild spaces of the Pacific Northwest, and inspired by the fusion of beauty and function, Lonesome Pictopia creates magical worlds with our original wallpapers and murals.
We create immersive, conceptual, gorgeous spaces that feel enchanted and alive. We love to push the boundaries between historic and contemporary design, and between fine and applied arts.
Our wallpapers are traditionally printed in England using the same methods that produced the magnificent wallpapers of the Arts and Crafts era, in partnership with a storied green manufacturer of some of the finest wallpapers in the world.
We are an all-female team of friends and bosses with a wide-ranging set of skills and experience, including tattooing, architecture, interior design, historic preservation, gilding, film styling, and business management. We are building a business that’s a microcosm of the world we want to live in: one filled with justice, beauty, and kindness. We believe that beauty, and access to beauty, is a human need and a human right. We believe that all work can and should be a force for good. Our particular concern is housing, and through our wallpaper sales we support long-term partnerships with non-profits that address housing inequality in our home city of Portland and beyond. We also seek to empower female-identifying artists and collaborators by paying above industry average for work, and forming deep, meaningful partnerships that bring exposure and clients to woman-run businesses.
